“At Sentinel I feel safe. I feel closer to God here.” -summer camper
"We noticed ourselves returning to peace the longer we stayed here. Stillness led
to prayer and prayer led to peace" -group guest
This past summer a young camper arrived at check out without his backpack. His mother questioned where it was and the boy shrugged and he said, “I don’t know”. Embarrassed, I asked the camp counselor to go and find it and apologized to the mother. The young boy quickly spoke up and he said, “It’s all my fault”. “Why is it your fault?” I said. “Because I hid it.” "Why did you hide it?" The boy said, “cause I want to stay.”
I feel like this in the stillness of the outdoors, I want to stay. I enjoy seeing campers make new friends, try new activities, enjoy time around Bible study with inspiring words from the Camp Pastor and staff. Camp helps create an atmosphere of worship and the study of God’s Word together. I feel thankful. This sweet melody my heart receives helps to create a harmony for my life.
Summer camp was a success with 604 campers served. Our 2021 theme was Steadfast. Firm in belief. Determined. Firmly fixed in place. Immovable. "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23.
Camp provides a place where we find unhurried moments to take a breath and focus on the steadfast love of our unchanging God. By purposeful time in the quiet, gazing at the bright stars at night, we are reminded of how immovable God is. Our faith deepens as we think about how the steadfast love of the LORD never ceases…great is Thy faithfulness.
As we continue ministry this season and beyond, we are raising support for two areas. First, Sentinel is MISSION FIRST as we never turn a family away for the inability to pay for camp. Donations are needed to help with scholarship support. Secondly, we are raising funds for new projects: a playground next to the Hobby house and a new bathroom next to the Wigwam.
Please prayerfully consider helping the place we all love continue to serve children and families. Tax deductible donations may be sent to the camp office or made securely at the link below.
Moments at camp are life changing. Sentinel programs are Bible study theme based with staff and volunteers who give of their time to walk alongside the campers. The outdoor environment is unique. We believe through ministry partnership that "Relationships are Built and Lives are Changed." Thank you for standing with us in ministry!
See you on the mountaintop,
